My name is Andy Duckworth and I am a perpetually curious person. I have a passion for learning new things and when I learn something new I have a need to share that knowledge with others. This curiosity and sharing has served me well in both my personal and professional life. Affording me the opportunity to meet and interact with great people and allowing me to excel at helping people learn and use technology, which happens to be another passion of mine. In fact, I have had the wonderful opportunity to work in technology for 20 years now.
For years I have helped friends and colleagues with various technology projects from learning new tools, setting up and maintaining websites or providing advice on gadgets and software. Recently when a former colleague asked if I could help her with some updates to her business website and I was happy to provide some assistance. She wanted to pay me for the work and I said sure so she asked me for an invoice for tax purposes. I had never been asked that before, but it dawned on me that I would need to have a business in order to do this. I debated if it was worth the effort and since I really enjoy learning new things I decided to go for it. I started, like I do most new things, with researching what it takes to start a business (I will document the steps I went through in future posts) and now Duckworth Innovations is a thing! In addition to learning new things, like starting a business, I thought this would be a great opportunity to meet new people and learn about the businesses they run. Maybe I can provide some assistance with technology or process improvement and I could learn more about the ins and outs of running a successful business.
